Station Plan Developed for the Gaziantep Station–Düztepe–Hospital Line

Route and station planning work has been developed for the light rail line that will connect Gaziantep Station, Düztepe and the City Hospital, three of the city's major trip attractors. Running through densely populated areas, the corridor is intended to improve access to the hospital and relieve pressure on the roads in the city centre.

In selecting station locations, population and employment densities, walking distances, existing bus routes, major public services and interchange opportunities were considered together. Each station's catchment was compared against land use data so that the line reaches as many users as possible.

The transport model was used to assess the passenger demand expected under different alignment and operating options. Alongside line length and journey time, the work covered station spacing, integration with the existing rail network, rolling stock and depot requirements, and the service frequencies to be planned for busy periods.

The technical work was carried into the feasibility report together with capital and operating costs, economic benefits and environmental effects. The result is more than a line plan for Gaziantep: it is an investment option assessed for both deliverability and long-term operational sustainability.
