Project Objectives

The purpose of the M2 Çayyolu – M3 Sincan connection is to link two important metro lines on Ankara's western axis directly to one another, creating a continuous, integrated and high-capacity public transport network from the existing rail infrastructure. The connection is intended to remove the need for most interchanges, shorten journey times and make travel by public transport more comfortable. Better connectivity between modes is in turn expected to reduce the congestion caused by car travel, use the road network in the city centre more efficiently and minimise environmental impacts, particularly greenhouse gas emissions.

Beyond the physical connection itself, the study establishes operating scenarios, capacity planning, passenger demand forecasts and technical and financial feasibility analysis, and sets out the economic sustainability of the investment.
