This study assesses, comprehensively and as a whole, how schemes that are planned, under construction or already completed across the city affect traffic today and will affect it in future. Using established methods supported by simulation, it sets out the changes these schemes may bring to network capacity, traffic volumes, junction performance, road safety risk and levels of accessibility. By examining future scenarios as well as present conditions, the study gives decision-makers a long-term planning perspective.
On that basis, the work seeks to keep potential adverse effects to a minimum, improve road safety, develop sustainable and environmentally sound transport solutions, and prepare investment and design recommendations consistent with the city's overall transport plan. The findings are intended to feed directly into practical, cost-effective and operationally efficient strategies for municipalities, public bodies and investors.
