The purpose of the feasibility study for the Stage 4 Konyaaltı–Varsak rail line is to provide fast, reliable, high-capacity and comfortable public transport between the western and northern axes of the city, and so reduce the congestion and environmental impacts caused by car travel. The scheme brings the existing rail lines together into a single network, allows passengers to travel between lines without interruption, and establishes transport infrastructure capable of serving population and demand growth over the long term.
By setting out the technical, financial and economic case for the investment, the study also supports the efficient use of funding and the maximisation of public benefit.
