Project Objectives

Acemler is one of Bursa's busiest interchanges, the point at which rail, road, bus, stadium and hospital movements all meet. The study develops the track layout and the new interchange station that will make rail operation more efficient, and at the same time establishes a safe, continuous and step-free pedestrian link between the stadium, the hospital, the bus stands and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Existing passenger movements, interchange directions, walking distances and the crowding that builds up at busy times were analysed. Station and alignment options were compared in terms of operational flexibility, platform capacity, passenger distribution and fit with existing infrastructure. The entrances, connecting arms and emergency exit routes of the pedestrian underpass were assessed across a range of scenarios.

Accessible ramps, stairs, horizontal circulation areas and station connections are resolved together through architectural and three-dimensional studies. The proposals are designed to disrupt rail operation and road traffic as little as possible during construction, to make wayfinding straightforward for users and to accommodate future growth in passenger numbers.
