The purpose of the Trabzon rail feasibility study is to establish the technical, financial and economic case for a rail line providing direct, fast, reliable and high-capacity public transport from the city centre to the airport, the university and other major trip generators.
The scheme is intended to reduce road traffic, make public transport more comfortable and more accessible, put urban mobility on a sustainable footing and minimise environmental impacts over the long term. The study also identifies funding models and operating scenarios for the investment, with a view to developing user-focused rail infrastructure that meets national and international standards.
