Project Objectives

This study was prepared to establish a modern, fast, reliable and comfortable rail line between Kızılay and Dikmen in Ankara, increasing both the reach and the capacity of public transport along the city's north–south axis. The line is intended to meet travel demand in the corridor, ease congestion, reduce dependence on the private car and keep environmental impacts to a minimum. Integration with the Kuğulu Park–Atakule–Turan Güneş funicular will strengthen links between neighbourhoods, provide seamless interchange between modes and bring the urban transport network together as a single system.

In this way the scheme addresses today's transport problems while establishing a sustainable, low-emission and efficient transport system for the long term.
