The purpose of this study is to keep the road and public transport networks running effectively while the Cluj metro line is under construction, to keep the disruption caused by the works to a minimum and to maintain continuity of passenger service. Throughout the works along the metro alignment, the priority is to protect traffic flow on the main arteries, keep public transport services running without interruption and match capacity to demand.
The work covers analysis of the existing network, planning of alternative routes and shuttle services, use of a mixed fleet of vehicle types (buses, minibuses and similar), balancing of passenger loads between peak and off-peak periods, and testing of the proposed arrangements in simulation to identify the most efficient solution.
